What is
a Chemical Peel?
Aptly named, the chemical peel literally removes (or peels) the damaged, outer layer of your skin to reveal a newer, fresher, more supple layer of skin below. Fine lines and wrinkles, mild scars, skin pigmentation, sun or age spots, rough patches and other premature signs of aging or sun damage are among the most common skin conditions the peel will reduce or eliminate. What is
the procedure?
Skinmedica products cater to the individual clientโs need and expectation. With your doctorโs consultation, you will determine the condition and type of your skin and your personal goals. Then you select the right Skinmedica chemical peel treatment product:
and the number of treatments you will require (from one to six) to reach the look you desire.
While the level and depth of the selected peel will differ, the procedure is the same. First your face will be cleansed and the product applied. A short period, from five to ten minutes, will create a burning, stinging sensation, similar to a sunburn. The reaction will, obviously, depend upon the level of the treatment. Cold compresses may be used to reduce the discomfort.
Are there
side effects?
Again, depending upon your specific treatment, there will be some redness and scaling. The skin will crust and peel within three to seven days.

The chemical peel is one of the least invasive of the โnon-invasiveโ procedures. Rather than addressing deep, structural changes or loss of volume and firmness, the chemical peel is for the outer areas of the skin itself.
