Laser Hair Removal In LA
Performed over 6000 procedures
Your Laser Skin Care offers a wide range of noninvasive cosmetic treatments that are convenient and effective ways to resolve the most commonly occurring skincare issues.
Over the past 15 years, weโve treated thousands of patients from the greater โจLos Angeles area and performed over six thousand laser hair removal procedures.
Why Consider
Laser Hair Removal?
Traditional ways to remove unwanted hair (shaving, waxing, and tweezing) are typically inconvenient, time-consuming, and at times, painful. They also require that you allow hair to grow before it can be removed and does little or nothing to discourage future hair regrowth. Laser hair removal offers a convenient and effective way to reduce or permanently eliminate unwanted hair โ while avoiding the various common side-effects of traditional methods, including irritated or bumpy skin, rashes, and possible infection. Unlike other methods, individual hairs are entirely eliminated, with no possibility of ingrown hairs or stubble developing. We believe laser hair removal provides a variety of positive benefits and the optimal combination of speed, comfort, and efficiency.
How Does
Laser Hair Removal Work?
Instead of cutting or pulling out individual hairs, laser hair removal works by using concentrated pulses of light energy to heat up and damage individual hair follicles beneath the skin surface. Existing hairs attached to the hair follicles will gradually fall out following laser treatment, and the heat-damaged hair follicles will be inhibited from growing new hairs. Lasers emit light at precisely tuned fixed frequencies, but the light pulses may be focused and adjusted in size, intensity, and duration to fine-tune the process to best adapt to individual variations in skin and hair color, as well as hair follicle density and depth below the skin surface.

I’ve been thinking of starting laser hair removal for awhile now and finally decided to give it a try. I am so happy to have found this office…Dr. Ella and her staff are amazing. The office is clean and modern. The laser hair removal procedure was clearly explained to me and after the consult I decided to proceed with treatment. I’ve had 3 treatments so far and couldn’t be happier with the results. highly recommend this office to anyone thinking about trying laser hair removal. I plan on trying more of their many skin care services in the near future.

Popular Treatment Areas
Laser hair removal can be used on almost every part of the body, apart from the eyelids and surrounding areas. Individual needs vary widely, but we find the most commonly requested areas by women are the legs, face, arms, underarms, and bikini line area, while men typically request the back, chest, and shoulders. The laser light pulses can even be directed onto hard-to-reach parts of the body.
Laser hair removal can also be used to address excess hair growth in these parts of the body:

Excessive Hair Growth
(Hirsutism)
Individuals dealing with excessive hair growth, often referred to as hirsutism, can benefit significantly from laser hair removal. Hirsutism can result from hormonal imbalances or certain medical conditions, leading to unwanted hair growth on various parts of the body. Laser hair removal can help reduce the density and visibility of hair in affected areas, offering a more manageable solution. You should consult with a doctor who specializes in hair removal and cosmetic procedures to ensure that your medical history and condition are evaluated carefully before starting treatment.

Comparing Laser Treatments
and IPL Technology
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a hair removal technology that uses intense light energy to damage the hair follicles. Although IPL is effective in most cases, the intense light energy created by the Yag laser can be directed against hair follicles present at any depth under the skin and is more effective when used against thick, coarse hair growths.
The YAG laser is the most widely used laser today โ itโs the result of technical enhancements to older laser models used when laser hair removal first became commercially available. Modern variants provide a far gentler patient experience, while still remaining highly effective against a wide variety of different hair types.
Do Skin Tones
and Hair Color Matter?
Laser hair removal works by focusing its light pulses onto the hair follicles while avoiding other skin cells and structures. The absorption of energy from each laser light pulse is a function of the laserโs precise frequency and the color of the hair follicles and skin cells that the light pulses travel through. The hair follicle must absorb the bulk of the laser energy, so the whole process is aided when the hair (and hair follicle) color is distinct from the patientโs skin color.
Historically laser hair removal has been targeted at those who combine fair-complexions with darker hair tones. Those with darker skin tones were a bit more challenging as melanin pigments caused the skin to absorb some of the laserโs light energy, resulting in skin damage. Patients with lighter color hairs also traditionally saw a less success rate of laser hair removal treatment.
However, technological improvements have broadened the range of skin/hair combinations that can effectively be treated. Today, we can provide effective laser hair removal treatments in LA for a variety of different skin and hair tone combinations.
What if I have
Really Thick Hair?
The laser light beam covers a much larger area than a single hair follicle, and so the laser hair removal technique is equally effective when used on patches of very dense or thick hair. Although there is considerable variation between individuals, laser hair removal is effective regardless of the type of hair โ the only question is how many laser treatments would be required to prevent future hair growth effectively.
Potential
Side Effects
Laser hair removal is FDA-approved safe and effective when performed by a trained and experienced physician.
However, some people who get laser hair removal may experience mild side effects, including:
Redness, Irritation, Swelling…
More rare side effects
of laser hair removal may include
Bruising, Blistering, Hyperpigmentation.
To reduce the risk of side effects, be sure a qualified and experienced MD performs your treatment. If you experience any side effects or have any concerns, contact your laser hair removal specialist right away.

What to Expect During
Your Initial Consultation
During your initial consultation, the laser hair removal specialist will determine whether you are a suitable candidate for the procedure and if you have any prior medical history that may affect the laser hair removal.
Your consultation with our doctor will be your opportunity to ask any questions about the treatment and what to expect. You should also discuss your expectations and the results you should anticipate to make sure they align.
You and the practitioner will also map out a series of treatment sessions, deciding on how many you may need and when to schedule them.
Preparing for
Your Treatment
You will be given a comprehensive list of doโs and donโts during your initial consultation. This will help you prepare for your upcoming treatment. Typically, this list will include the following points:
DONโT wax or pluck for at least six weeks before your treatment date (itโs still ok to shave during this period).
DO avoid direct sunlight (as well as artificial tanning beds and tanning creams or sprays) for at least two weeks before treatment.
Do not apply makeup, skin creams, or perfume the day of your procedure. The areas being treated need to be totally free of chemical products.
DO shave the area to be treated a day or two before each treatment โ this allows laser light pulse energy to be directed to the hair follicles, without individual hairs interfering with this process.
Donโt bleach any area being treated for two weeks prior to each treatment. New hair growth at the hair follicle should also be in its natural state.
What to Expect Du
ring the Treatment
Your laser hair removal specialist may apply cooling gel or topical anesthetic during your procedure, and they may also use a cooling pad โ this is to minimize any discomfort during the process, as well as to help to increase the laserโs ability to penetrate the skin.
During the procedure, your doctor will apply the laser to the skin, and a laser beam will be directed through your skin to the hair follicle. You may feel slight discomfort, but most clients report feeling a cooling sensation and a warm prick.
The length of the procedure can range from a few minutes a couple of hours, depending on the areas being treated.
What to Expect
After a Laser Treatment
Before your procedure, you will receive a list of post-treatment doโs and donโts, including:
DO apply an ice pack if redness or bumps appear in the area.
DONโT scrub the treated area for several days.
DO apply sunscreen (SPF 30 or greater) for the following two weeks.
DONโT allow the treated area in direct sunlight.
DO call the medspa if any blisters or scabs develop so they can provide antibiotic ointment.
One thing that can cause post-treatment confusion is that the laser hair removal process does not physically remove individual hairs that are present. Instead, it damages the follicles to prevent future growth.
Immediately after treatment, you will still find hairs present; however, they will start to fall out in the hours and days following treatment. Donโt try to accelerate this process by scrubbing the treated area or by plucking out individual hairs.
After a few days, you may even see new hair growth seeming to appear โ this is merely part of the process by which damaged follicles shed their hairs and is only a temporary annoyance.
